One night in Lisbon

I usually try to summarize my trips in one post if I am visiting more stops within the same country, especially because I barely find the time to post nowadays. In this case, however, I felt like Faro and Lisbon deserved their own posts. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Lisbon, but flights were way too expensive during the weekend we wanted to go. So, even though we decided to fly out to Faro first, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to take a 2h bus ride and explore the city at least a a little bit. If you are flexible enough and don’t mind some additional driving, why not right?! So, here it goes – one night (and two days) in Lisbon.

Bom tarde, Faro!

Oh, Sun – I’ve truly missed you. Now that I am sitting here, back in rainy Berlin, I can’t even imagine that we’ve just got back from the beach yesterday. I’ve never been to Portugal and it’s been a while since I’ve had a pretty chill vacation to be honest, as we always try to squeeze in as much as possible. This time, however, we had 5 days to chill, explore and keep it a little more low key than usually.

Jiá su, Athens

You all know this feeling – work is stressful, life is stressful, it’s cold and you are just craving for a break, preferably far, far, faaaaar away from it all. I love Berlin, but lets face it,  it can be a real struggle in winter – like 50 shades of grey weather struggle. So, perfect timing to go on a little (solo) trip. I scrolled through the Ryanair schedule to find possible cities for a weekend getaway and voilà – Athens it was. I never actually been to Greece before, so I was very excited to make this one a first for me.

2016 – it’s been a hell of a ride. Now that I am sitting here, trying to think about what went down during the past 12 months, it kinda feels like this year has been going on forever. And at the same time, it always felt like time was running even faster this year (I heard thats part of getting older, just saying).

Riga vibes

It’s CHRISTMAS and the new year (that I will be spending in Prague) is right around the corner. So, I wanted to use the chance to finish off the year with a blog post about one of my favorite short trips – Riga. I think my experience in Riga is a great example for how much value people add to your stay abroad. We’ve met a bunch of great people that made the time there extra special and the town was great fun, so that was a plus. Here we go, Riga vibes!

Bratislava

Whenever I think about Bratislava, I have that one scene from the movie Eurotrip in mind. You know, when the dog sits on the side of the road with the hand it its mouth (haha). I can assure you now, that Bratislava is nothing like that. Trust me, I tried to find the dog, but failed miserably. But seriously, I recently have the urge to travel and explore Eastern European countries a little more. Last year, I started traveling to Riga, Prague and Warsaw and was excited to see what Bratislava had to offer as my next destination.

Australia, mate!

Australia marked my starting point of my 7-week backpacking trip (I know, I know, I am mixing up the timeline here, but oh well). It was also my first backpacking experience, in which I started out traveling by myself for the first 2,5 weeks of the trip (this doesn’t sound long at all, and I’ve met so many female solo traveler, but for me it was a first). Starting out in Melbourne, I made a quick stop in Auckland, New Zealand (more about that in a later post), flew over to Cairns and made my way down to Brisbane, Surfers Paradise, Byron Bay and finally Sydney.
