About

For the past 10 years, I’ve been following my passion to explore new countries, their people and cultures. I started this blog to portray my own personal travel story, share my greatest memories and experiences with you and to remind other people that there is so much more to explore when you are brave enough to get out of your own comfort zone. Over the years  I’ve gotten so many questions regarding my trips, I thought this might be an easy way to provide tips and tricks for destinations, travel stories, inspirations and recommendations for accommodations and activities. Also, my newest project “The Local’s Perspective” aims to give insights in and creates greater understanding for the people living in these countries – their hopes, dreams, struggles, recommendations and outlooks for the future.

It all first started when I moved to Chicago as an Au Pair in 2008, spending all of my free weekends traveling around the US. Ever since, I lived in five different countries and recently started a trip around the world. Traveling to me means freedom and will always play an essential role in my life. Who needs a car, when you can hike the Inca trail in Peru, play with monkeys in Cambodia or take a stroll through Central park?! The feeling that traveling gives you, that sense of satisfaction when you first get off the plane and know that you are about to explore something amazing, get to know a new culture, see the breathtaking landscapes of once unknown territory – that’s what drives me every single day – until I book my next flight, and the next one …. you get the point. And I hope that I can inspire you to do the same, once in a while.

Welcome to rannaway!
