2016 – it’s been a hell of a ride. Now that I am sitting here, trying to think about what went down during the past 12 months, it kinda feels like this year has been going on forever. And at the same time, it always felt like time was running even faster this year (I heard thats part of getting older, just saying).
Looking back, it has not always been sunshine, smiles and highlights for the past 12 months, which I feel like needs to be mentioned here as well (briefly). I am so ready for 2017. It’s been stressful, frustrating and hurtful at times. Not to forget, that this year has also been an absolute nightmare politically (these WTF moments were way too real) and socially (the way people treat each other, I mean common). BUT as they say, there is always light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully we will all get our shit together and make it work. So, that’s what I believe in and hope for better times next year (can I hear an Amen ha!). But enough with the negative!
My Highlights 2016
Of course, it wasn’t all bad. Not at all actually. This year has been pretty rewarding – with great memories, great new and old friends and lots of traveling. So I decided, I will give you a little overview of my (travel) year. Here are some impressions, so to speak my personal best-of 2016.
London in January
Edinburgh Reunion in London. Thanks to Pierre and Josh for hosting us and for two amazing days of catching up and partying. London is always a good idea.
Amsterdam in March
Short trip to Amsterdam during Easter with my dad and my little sister. We had amazing weather and it felt good to be back in the Netherlands for a day.
Budapest in April
Budapest was one of our short trips earlier this year and I really enjoyed the city. Plus, I could not imagine my travel experiences without the two of them. Best travel buddies out there!

South America in May and June
Unbelievable that I only met this girl in 2014. It feels like it’s been forever. We traveled through Southeast Asia together after only 5 months of knowing each other. This year, we finally made it to South America and I am sure there will be many more to come. From Argentina, through Bolivia and up to Peru, from the wildest hostel parties to sleeping in the freezing cold – it’s been a blast.

Summer in Berlin
Summer in Berlin is great. Enough said.

Lollapalooza in September
Not a travel highlight, but two days full of music, fun, sand (in my face, my mouth, my undies…) and heat. From Radiohead to Beginner to Years&Years….

New York & Chicago in October
My sisters first time in the states and I am glad I finally got to show her around. Lots of sightseeing, even more food, reunion with great friends and the bulls game – highlight.
Bratislava in December
Another short trip in December – Two days full of Bratislava vibes in the freezing cold, totally sick, but worth every minute of it.

Tirol in December
Second time around, we had another amazing 3- day christmas event up in the mountains of Tirol, Austria.
Next – Prague
So, now it’s almost time for me to head to the bus and drive to Prague – my final trip for this year. Thanks to all the people that made this year so special (and thanks to all of those that tried to piss me off – I appreciate your effort haha!). I can’t tell you yet what 2017 has in store for me, but be sure to stay tuned for more to come.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2017 filled with lots of travels!
